SCORPIO BEGINS Snippet #8

5516378-two-young-men-fighting I stumbled across the stone patio that spread across the back of the large estate. I gulped the cool night air, trying to get rid of the large lump that threatened to choke off my breathing.

This is why I hate feeling. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it.

I looked up into the night sky. The stars winked back at me as if they knew a secret they weren’t willing to share. For a moment, nothing existed in my universe except for enormity of nature and my breaking heart. A solitary cloud drifted across the face of the full moon. The shimmering moonlight darkened, matching the conflicting feelings that were tearing me apart.

It was several minutes before I became aware of the smell of cigarette smoke drifting from the shadows beside me. The hair stood up on the back of my neck. I spun, and saw the outline of a man as he slouched against a low wall. He wore a pair of tight fitting jeans, an open jean shirt, and deck shoes. His smug smile reflected an arrogance that was obviously contrived to belittle others and remind them of his superiority.

“That’s right, little man. It’s me, Ken,” he said. “I thought that was you.” He came away from the wall and slowly ground the cigarette butt with the toe of his shoe.

“So, how’d you like the show. She’s magnificent, isn’t she? But then rumour has it that you know how talented she is. I would imagine she played you for whatever she wanted. How does it feel to be the latest young toy for her amusement?”

Bile rose in my throat as I turned and faced the man.

“Huh,” he said. “You really believed it was more than Meredith just satisfying her insatiable need, didn’t you?”

“Don’t you dare talk about her like that, you complete fucking asshole,” I said in a low, tight voice. My fists clenched and unclenched at my sides.

The man named Ken laughed and said, “I can talk about her any way I want, little man. I plan to own her. If you’re lucky, I might let you fuck her once more; but I get to watch.”

A film of dark red slid over my eyes. I lunged, but Ken was ready for it. His fist shot out catching me just below his rib cage. I fell to my knees, bending neatly in half with arms clutching my guts, and tried to catch what was left of my breath. My humiliation worsened by the fact that Ken stood there laughing at me.

Brian’s sneakers rushed into view then planted, wide apart, in front of Ken.

“Why don’t you pick on someone your own size, you prick,” Brian said.

If I hadn’t been doubled over in pain, I might have laughed. I imagined Brian standing up to Ken, feet planted wide apart, fists raised. One thing about it, Brian never shied away from a fight. He might not be as big as Ken, but he was fast. As my breathing eased a little, I moved out of the fight zone to support myself against the garden wall.

“Oh really, ant? You want some too?” Ken threw a punch at Brian’s chin. Brian dodged and returned with an upper cut that met the sheet metal of Ken’s abs. The man didn’t even wince; he simply smiled and watched Brian’s dance. Brian stilled, braced on his toes, watching for Ken’s counter attack. With the speed of a cat playing with a mouse, Ken slapped Brian’s face and twisted a lock of his long black hair around his fist. He spun Brian around and placed a massive forearm around his throat.

“Come to papa, sweetheart,” Ken crooned in Brian’s ear. “Let papa show you what a real man feels like.”

SCORPIO BEGINS Snippet #2 – Meredith

Couple EmbracingMy goodness; it’s hard to believe a month just flew by since I last posted. Never fear, I’ve been writing away on “Scorpio Begins,” and I’m well into the first draft. Here’s a snippet of what I’ve been working on:

Disclaimer: May be edited or deleted prior to publication.

By the time they reached the outskirts of Kincardine, Connor was in his element and drove with confidence. Meredith pressed a button on the cassette player, and the sounds of the Eagles blended with the early summer sounds of the small town. Connor’s fingers tapped the wheel, and he hummed along as Don Henley belted out “Hotel California.”  A ray of the setting sun lit the fine brown hairs on Connor’s forearm. Meredith felt as if the muscles cried out for her to stroke them. As if reading her mind, Connor reached over and ran his fingers along the side of her face before letting his hand come to rest on her thigh.  Warmth radiated through his hand spreading through her like the burn of a fine brandy.

Connor pulled into a parking spot in front of the restaurant. He pocketed the keys as he waited for her to get out of the car. His hand slid around the back of her neck as they climbed the stairs to the entrance. Meredith tried to make it look like she needed something in her purse as she rolled out of his grasp. She felt Connor stiffen beside her; she chose to ignore it as they went through the ornate wood and brass door of the steakhouse.

“Good evening, madam.” The maître d’ glanced at Connor.

“Good evening, Charles.”

“Your table is ready. Will anyone else be joining you this evening?”

“No, there’s just the two of us as I mentioned when I called.” Meredith’s voice dripped with disapproval.

“Right this way.” The maître d’ led the way through the busy dining room to a private alcove in a back corner of the restaurant. He pulled the inside chair out for Meredith while Connor took the other. He shook the napkin and placed it on Meredith’s lap before doing the same for Connor.

“Your server will be right with you. Is there anything else I can do for you this evening?”

“No thank you; that will be all, Charles.”

Meredith opened her menu before glancing up to see Connor staring at her.

“What’s the matter?”

“Who else did he think would be joining us?”

“I’m sure it’s what he’s supposed to say. Why do you ask?”

“Well, let’s see. You moved away from me, presumably so no one could see me touch you. You’re obviously well known in this restaurant. He asked if anyone else would be joining you as if he expected someone; and unless I’m missing something, I doubt very much whether you have enough clout to have your own table in a restaurant like this. So what am I missing, Meredith?” Connor’s tone was even and measured, his eyes sliced through her like cold steel.

SCORPIO BEGINS Snippet #1 – Connor

Couple EmbracingDisclaimer: May be edited or deleted prior to publication.

Connor threw his head back, taking huge breaths while he felt Meredith’s warmth enhancing his pleasure. He’d waited so long to feel her, yet nothing had prepared him for the intensity of their reunion. She reached up and pulled him on top of her. He stilled feeling the crush of her breasts against his chest as they lay, heart to heart. Rolling onto his back, he drew her into the crook of his arm, her head tucked under his chin. Connor buried his nose in her hair, inhaling deeply as if her scent carried everything he would ever need to survive. She ran her long fingers lightly through the dusting of chest hair that circled his nipples, sighing.

“I missed you,” she said. “I wish we could stay like this forever.”

May romance be with you!

5-Star Raving Goodreads Fan Review of Scorpio Awakens

raving fanMar 24, 2013 – Rebecca underwood rated it 5 of 5 stars
A very enjoyable read i was sucked in straight away, i loved the main characters especially Tim. I found in a way this read was equally about how Tim is exploring his sexual fantasies, finding out things he never knew he would be interested in, let alone be aroused by, just as much as Katherine is at having hers fulfilled. The story is easy to read and the intimacy and love between Tim and Katherine is simply gorgeous, the diary sharing of their needs and thoughts to each other packs a punch. Connor is your stereotype, rich and gorgeous, slightly cold and all demanding, his past is why he is like this, until Katherine reappears in his life. I’m not sure how this threesome is going to span out but i for one can’t wait to read more! It has a lot more going on but i don’t want to spill all the good stuff. 😉
This is romantic and very sexy, arousing and heartfelt. One to read for sure!
Thank you Rebecca!

Celebrating a 5-Star Raving Canadian Fan Review

raving fan5.0 out of 5 stars Sensual Dreamland Mar 24 2013
By Lola
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I think this (Scorpio Awakens by Lilith Darville) is my first ebook. I love books but space is becoming an issue. It was an experiment. No steamy cover lying around the house is kind of a bonus. I found it an escape to a sensual dreamland – I like the charachters I can really relate to as they draw me into the story totally, and the ones that are dreamy, part of the fantasy. The story is fun…the suspense makes me turn the page to discover what happens, and not just skip to the next steamy bit!! Great read to simply enjoy and get into an erotic headspace – which is what I want from a novel like this and my erotic headspace is not that easy to fire up – better be a bit spicy – and the sex scenes are great. I need this kind of exiting relaxation in my life. Looking forward to more!! Think I will buy a hard copy for an friend who is also likes this kind of fiction and introduce her – imagine some of these limited prints especially if you get a whole series might be worth something some day.
Thank you, Lola – May romance be with you!
